Izzo, I must express my deep disappointment with this video. I've been following you for a very long time, even from the days of your police career, but this video praising Samuel Kwok doesn't sit well with me. I’ve had several Wing Chun (or more accurately, Yung Chun as it’s called in China where I also trained) instructors, and my experience with Sam at a seminar was quite disheartening. He taught one thing but demonstrated another. When I asked if he could show me the technique he was explaining, he agreed, but it didn’t work. He then resorted to using force and, admittedly, some skill to cover up the failure. From that moment, I ceased to exist for him at the seminar. For me, that’s not the mark of a true teacher or a master of the martial art. Others may share their experiences, but the internet is full of substantial criticisms. Thus, for me, this portrayal is professionally unacceptable. Warm regards, Jaro

I'm far from a pure stylist in anything and have very limited formal WC training...that being said I've used it every single mma fight I had, I spar with it every time I put gloves on and people who know what to look for recognize that it infact is wing chun 🤷‍♂️

Sifu Phil Nearing and GM Kwok were the only people who trained me in Wing Chun Kung Fu. I never studied any other martial art. They were my teachers. I had multiple seminars with GM Kwok under Sifu Phil over several hard years of training starting around 2001 I believe. My skill and confidence for self defense over time increased greatly over time by the teaching of these two awesome martial artists. I am forever indebted to them and hold them in very high esteem. Also Under Sifu Phil I was able to participate in a major seminar with both GM Kwok AND GGM Ip Ching. I was also there when GM Kwok met for the first time GM Carlson Gracie of BJJ for the very first time ever under the joined connection of both of them with Sifu Phil Nearing. This meeting eventually led to the famous joint seminar of GM Samuel Kwok for Wing Chun and GM Carlson Gracie that was held in England. Again with the participation of Master Phil. Sifu Phil also taught us that he never wanted to train us to be robots of Wing Chun. He would say learn the true Wing Chun taught the original way but eventually you will make it your own based also on your body type and particular strengths/limitations etc. The only other person who is out there that I wish I trained under who I believe is also absolutely top notch and has the true real deal Wing Chun is Gary Lam. Massive insights on Wing Chun from WSL lineage. Still study what he teaches via available vids though don’t actively train like I used to unfortunately. It was not from a penalty, it was from a crazy rule change which basically decided the match with a coin toss. The match ended in 0-0 tie. Bumgartner won the coin toss and chose bottom. Baumgartner won by escaping a hold

Disliking what He says doesn’t make what He says not true. It’s not a coincidence how every wing chun fighter who got destroyed in in a ring or cage did not come from His lineage lol.

I don't like to get into online debates and shit, but i want to point out a few things. First of all, Jesse was never a JKD guy, he studied with Bruce before JKD was invented. Jesse has NEVER shit on Wing Chun, infact in his books, Jesse was nothing but gracious for Wing Chun. Jesse did not post these videos to represent himself, infact he was VERY sick with cancer when these were recorded, so I think you can excuse some lack of communication or structure in his teachings at this time. The most important thing is though, Jesse taught a lot, he had years of incredible teachings and students, including several amazing Wing Chun people like Adam Chan. Ultimately you are being overly critical about teachings that you saw less than two minutes of, in the same way you get upset when people criticize Wing Chun without proper understanding. It's not fair to criticize Jesse because you have issues with JKD, and it's no more fair to criticize NCGF based off this than it is for people to criticize Wing Chun based off UA-cam clips. Pot meet kettle.

The wisdom of yraditional maryial arts is aleays given. All techniques are nothing else,as you also say,than the mere alphabet of the sustem,in order to make words....verbs,adjectives,adverbs and sentences...and maybe short essays... All 1,2,3 steps to a defence are nothing else than possibile answers to a A..to B...to C scenario...like answers to "what if ..i am faced with a...b..or c situation".. All martial arts strive for the shortest and quickest stopping , neutralizing technique... Any bad student....iss a good student showing us things to cover next time out of our arsenal.... A bad medical doctor doesnt do away with the science of medicine.... So any bad expinent kf any martial arts system doesnt do away with the martial art itself. A reall fight is not a mma...cause mma is still a ruled agreement. The martial arts...the body self defence arts came out of chaotic situations..where its either you or the other . We only het a glimpse....of what were the martial arts before the humanity...international courts and humane fair treatment rose in the civilised world ...civil being the Rule of Justice of the governing elite and their servants in the name of people....

Izzo,in your opinion what is the difference amongst body guards and bouncers and street fighters? Is there such a thing as body guard martial art? What would be the difference for all yhise people who start their career as special forces and fbi or cia personell and are employed as body guards for VIP..guns aside?

Why are you so deeply invested in this nonsense style?? If you took all this energy you have for Wing Chun and spent two years training Muay Thai, you'd be a 10x better fighter than if you spent the whole rest of your life on this WC nonsense.

Being in the grocery store industry for 36 years. I can say without a doubt certain brands are commercially advertised to certain races. Examples, Virginia Slim (Menthol) cigarettes is what most black people asked for, Marlboro cigarettes is what a male white would ask for, Winston 100's cigarettes was is what most white woman would ask for. It goes on and on with different foods, beverages, and liquors.

Of course the Chinese will not teach us Westerners everything they Know. And this is ok with me, Why? Maybe they will find a white guy that will be hungry to know more? Cynthia Rothrock earn their respect, and Admiration, when she didn't give up, complain etc,,What is taught to the general public is not all of the arts, Maybe they want to see if you want to learn more than entry level techniques. This is ok too, because the forms are only guide lines, you try to flow from the forms. I thank the Chinese for what they share with me, and i respect their family lineage. I seen the Vietnamese W.C forms, they are longer, and a little different. The internet has opened up the world to all kinds of information that was hidden before.
